My pets Shadow and Angel have really driven home how good CBD is for animals. I want to share my story with Angel my 16 year old cat.
Last December I noticed Angel was walking like she was drunk. Her head was crocked where she couldn’t hold it up. I was terrified and got her to the vet immediately.
We had blood work done to see what we could find. Angel was going into kidney failure. Her potassium was very low. When a cat is low on potassium, they lose their muscle function and strength. Hence, the drunk walk and not being able to hold up her head. We put her on Renal K and went home and had a Hail Mary weekend. No one thought she was going to make it.
Needless to say I cried a lot! I surrendered to her death and spent whatever time I had left with her.
Angel being the independent cat that she is started fighting back. She took her medicine. Thank God I found I could put it on her food! She was slowly getting strength back in her legs and then her head.
Angel looked confused during this time not understanding what was happening to her. I certainly had no answers and put my faith in the God and the vet.
Angel fully recovered. Or so I thought. A few months later the same thing happened again. It was determined that she would be on Renal K the rest of her life.
COVID-19 shows up and Renal K is no where to be found. I guess the UK did not think manufacturing pet medicine was essential. I ended up putting Angel on the powder version. It was not as effective. She was going down again. I was truly scared because she would die. If she could not get her potassium, she would go into seizures and die.
Remembering how CBD worked on Shadow, I thought I would give it a try on Angel. In September, Angel was going down again while on the powder. Thank God the gel came in but it seemed ineffective. I upped her CBD to 150 mg and put it on her food. Angel was eating a lot and losing weight at the same time.
I took her to another vet for a second opinion because her symptoms seemed different. The vet thought she may have hyper thyroidism since she eating and not putting on any weight. He said that the hyper thyroid was preventing her kidneys from failing.
As of this writing Angel eats all the time, she is her old self but she is down to six pounds. She is skin and bones right now. I even think with the amount of food I give her, maybe, fingers crossed, she is putting on some weight.
I believe that the CBD is helping her. She is getting stronger, she is her old bitchy naggy self, which I love and hate simultaneously. I think the CBD is what is causing her to eat more because CBD stabilizes the metabolism and brings homeostasis back into the body.
At this time, I think Angel could live forever. She doesn’t want to die and she certainly doesn’t want to leave me. My vet cannot believe that Angel is still fighting for her life. Well, she has it good and she knows it. I’m not saying I didn’t call the vet to say “I think its time” only for Angel to fight again. If cats truly have nine lives, Angel has about four or more five to go!
I swear by CBD for animals.
